🇬🇧 How did you get introduced to Pitch & Putt?
I have been working as a Teaching Pro at the Pitch & Putt course in Groenlo since 2010. Until 2021, I had never actively played Pitch & Putt myself. That changed when an NRT tournament was held in Groenlo. I met Kim Kuijsters there, and she convinced me to give it a try. Since then, I’ve been trying to play as many Pitch & Putt tournaments as possible.
You originally come from golf as a player and teaching professional, but you are now also a regular competitor in national and international Pitch & Putt events. What do you see as the three biggest advantages of Pitch & Putt compared to golf?
One of the biggest advantages is that you can play a round of Pitch & Putt in a relatively short amount of time. It’s also a sport that anyone can enjoy because you don’t need a golf handicap to get started, unlike regular golf. On top of that, it’s affordable, making it accessible to a wide range of people.
What is your lowest competitive Pitch & Putt round, and where did you shoot it?
My lowest competitive round is a 48, which I shot during the club competition in Groenlo. I’m especially proud of that score because the course is relatively long, with five holes measuring over 80 metres.
Why should the other players keep an eye on you?
If I can find enough time to practice over the next few weeks alongside my coaching work, it might be worth keeping an eye on me. Although, to be honest, I usually play my best when I’m the one chasing the players ahead of me.

Soy profesor de golf (Teaching Pro) y desde 2010 doy clases en el campo de Pitch & Putt de Groenlo. Hasta 2021 nunca había jugado activamente al Pitch & Putt. Todo cambió cuando se celebró un torneo NRT en Groenlo. Allí conocí a Kim Kuijsters, quien me animó a probar este deporte. Desde entonces intento participar en tantos torneos de Pitch & Putt como puedo.
Originalmente vienes del golf y eres profesor profesional, pero ahora también participas regularmente en torneos nacionales e internacionales de Pitch & Putt. ¿Cuáles son, según tú, las tres mayores ventajas del Pitch & Putt frente al golf?
Una de las mayores ventajas es que puedes completar una vuelta en relativamente poco tiempo. Además, cualquiera puede practicar este deporte, ya que no se necesita hándicap, como ocurre en el golf tradicional. Por si fuera poco, es una modalidad asequible para todo el mundo.
¿Cuál es tu vuelta más baja en competición y dónde la conseguiste?
Mi mejor vuelta en competición es un 48, conseguido durante la competición por equipos del club en Groenlo. Es una puntuación de la que estoy especialmente orgulloso porque el recorrido es relativamente largo, con cinco hoyos de más de 80 metros.
¿Por qué deberían los demás jugadores estar atentos a ti?
Si en las próximas semanas consigo sacar tiempo para entrenar además de dar clases, quizá merezca la pena vigilarme. Aunque, siendo sincero, normalmente juego mejor cuando soy yo quien persigue a los jugadores que van por delante.

Als Teaching Pro geef ik sinds 2010 golflessen op de Pitch & Putt-baan in Groenlo. Tot 2021 had ik zelf nooit actief Pitch & Putt gespeeld, totdat er een NRT in Groenlo was. Ik kwam in gesprek met Kim Kuijsters. Zij heeft me toen overgehaald om het ook te proberen. Sindsdien probeer ik zoveel mogelijk Pitch & Putt-toernooien te spelen.
Je bent oorspronkelijk golfer/golfprofessional, maar inmiddels ook een vaste deelnemer aan de (inter)nationale Pitch & Putt-toernooien. Wat zijn volgens jou de drie grootste pluspunten van Pitch & Putt ten opzichte van golf?
Wat natuurlijk één van de grote pluspunten is, is dat je Pitch & Putt in relatief korte tijd kunt spelen. Daarnaast kun je het met iedereen spelen. Je hebt er geen GVB voor nodig, zoals op een gewone golfbaan, en het is betaalbaar voor iedereen.
Wat is jouw laagste ronde met Pitch & Putt tijdens een wedstrijd en waar was dat?
Mijn laagste ronde was een 48 in Groenlo tijdens de clubcompetitie. Daar zijn de holes relatief lang, met vijf holes van meer dan 80 meter.
Waarom moeten de andere deelnemers juist jou in de gaten houden?
Mocht ik de komende weken zelf nog veel tijd overhouden naast het lesgeven, dan is het misschien goed om mij in de gaten te houden. Maar ik speel meestal beter als ik juist anderen in het vizier heb.
